چکیده
Invited for this month's cover picture is the BIOSCOPE group of Professors Carlos Lodeiro and José Luis Capelo at the REQUIMTE/UCIBIO-LAQv-FCT University NOVA of Lisbon (Portugal), and their collaborators. The cover picture is devoted to Translational Research, and shows the Portuguese Flag represented by the interaction between cells and Janus gold/silver nanoparticles functionalized with rhodamine (red) and Fluorescein (green) dyes as tools for biomedical translational research. Read the full text of their Review at 10.1002/open.201700135.

Polypeptide micelles with dual pH activatable dyes for sensing cells and cancer imaging.
pH is an important control parameter for maintenance of cell viability and tissue functions. pH monitoring provides valuable information on cell metabolic processes and the living environment. In this study, we prepared dual pH-sensitive, fluorescent dye-loaded polypeptide nanoparticles (DPNs) for ratiometric sensing of pH changes in living cells. DPNs contain two types of dyes: N-(rhodamine B)...
متن کاملPhotophysical Responses of Benzimidazolic and Benzoxazolic HydroxyCoumarin Dyes
We synthesized four novel benzoxazolic and benzimidazolic derivatives of 6-hydroxycoumarin and their photophysical properties were studied. The products with brilliant yellow color shades declared green fluorescence. The emission peaks of the products appeared 456–474 nm. The important characteristic for fluorescent compounds, the Stokes shift νA-νF, oscillator strength f, and fluorescence quan...
متن کاملA Dual colorimetric and Fluorometric Anion Sensor Based on Polymerizable 1, 8-Naphthalimide Dye
A new polymerizable fluorescent sensor based on the photoinduced electron transfer PET for the selective determination of fluoride ions in DMF solutions has been synthesized. The sensing system was prepared by incorporating 4-Amino-1,8-naphthalimide derivatives containing thiourea side chain at the amino moiety AFTN as a neutral F- selective flourophore and was characterized by use of the DSC, ...
متن کاملImaging In Mice With Fluorescent Proteins: From Macro To Subcellular
Whole-body imaging with fluorescent proteins has been shown to be a powerfultechnology with many applications in small animals. Brighter, red-shifted proteins can makewhole-body imaging even more sensitive due to reduced absorption by tissues and less scatter. For example, a new protein called Katushka has been isolated that is the brightest known proteinwith emission at wavelengths longer than ...
